چکیده

The development of a pilot-in-the-loop investigation into rotorcraft-pilot coupling are presented for three test campaigns which were conducted as part of GARTEUR HC(AG-16): rigid body; biodynamic and aeroelastic. For each campaign, the modelling activities and results are shown. PIO events were recorded during the rigid body test campaign, although not always in the expected vehicle axes. The biodynamic campaign required a significant amount of development work to be carried out on the University of Liverpool‟s flight simulation facility and the results of this development are presented. For the aeroelastic campaign, an aeroelastic rotor and slung load were successfully implemented but an aeroelastic fuselage presented problems. The test campaigns are set in the context of being the first step in understanding and preventing rotorcraft-pilot couplings but the paper provides recommendations on the next steps to take the research forwards. * Submitted to the 34 ERF, Liverpool, Sept 2008 † Flight Science and Technology Research Group, The University of Liverpool. Adverse Rotorcraft-Pilot Couplings - Modelling and Prediction of Rigid Body RPC. Sketches from the Work of European Project ARISTOTEL 2010-2013

Unfavourable Aircraft/Rotorcraft Pilot Couplings (A/RPCs), usually called pilot induced oscillations (PIO), manifested themselves since the early days of manned flight and may still create problems in modern configurations. In Europe, the ARISTOTEL project (Aircraft and Rotorcraft Pilot Couplings – Tools and Techniques for Alleviation and Detection) was set up with the aim of understanding and ...

A pilot randomised controlled trial to assess the utility of an e‐learning package that trains users in adverse drug reaction causality

OBJECTIVES Causality assessment of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) by healthcare professionals is often informal which can lead to inconsistencies in practice. The Liverpool Causality Assessment Tool (LCAT) offers a systematic approach. An interactive, web-based, e-learning package, the Liverpool ADR Causality Assessment e-learning Package (LACAeP), was designed to improve causality assessment us...

The Role of MRI in the Diagnosis of Post-sternotomy Injuries of the Brachial Plexus

Brachial Plexus Injury (BPI) is an uncommon complication of median sternotomy capable of causing a permanent or transitory sensitivity and/or motor function impairment in the upper limbs. During a cardiac surgery through sternotomy, for the assessment of the thoracic cage configuration and the site of mediastinal structures, a broader surgical field may be required. If the sternal retractors ar...
